Thesis Statement/Main Overall Point: Today I am going to be talking about the $47 million NYPL budget Cuts. I am new to New York and didn’t know that this has happened before but I do know that this is the harshest in history.

A. Why Should You Care

1. The Library isn’t only for bookworms, it helps different people in different ways
2. Quote by Tony Marx “ in a city of immigrants, build by immigrants” and we can’t help these immigrants
B. Consequences of Budget Cuts
1. The library will only be open 4 days a week.
2. The number of books, eBooks, and DVDs while be significantly reduced.
3. Thousands of immigrants won’t be able to get English classes stopping them from getting jobs or an education.
4. Tens of thousands of students won’t be able to get after school help if parents are too busy.
5. Some people have no other choice

C. Doing More with Less
1. 17 million books with be available directly to 1.1 million public school students.
2. Volunteer Recognition day.
D. Achievements so far

1. 130, 000 People wrote letters so far
2. $144,000 have been donated online
3. The budget cuts have been cut done to $37 million
