Specific Purpose : To persuade my audience to to donate their organs and tissues when they die and to act upon their decision to donate.

Attention getter- Today, I will tell you that organs can be transplanted, the reasons that I think you should become a donor and benefits that come from organ donation.

Thesis Statement: Becoming an organ donor after death is not only an important decision for yourself, but it is also an important decision for the life that you may have the power to save.

Question based on thesis: Why not save a life and become an organ donor ?

1. Organ donation is a selfless way to give back to others, and to be able to make a huge difference by giving another person a second chance at life.
2. The number of patients waiting for organs far exceeds the number of people who have registered to become organ donors.
3. Many stigmas related to organ donation - relatively false, and in order to be well informed, you must know what organ donation is, how it works as well as how you can become an organ donor and what organs or tissues you can donate.

Main Point 1- What organ donation is and how it works
1. Organ donation takes healthy organs and tissues from one person for transplantation into another. Organs you can donate include: kidneys, heart, liver, pancreas, intestines, lungs, skin, bone, bone marrow, and cornea (the front part of the eye).
2. Organ donations usually occur for patients with kidney failure, heart disease, lung disease, and cirrhosis of the liver..
3. A transplant is usually the last course of action in the treatment of a patient, but if the patient is willing and able, it can be a good option. If the patient consents to an organ transplant, doctors put the patient’s name on a list.
4. Acceptable donors are those who are brain dead but are still on life support. They are technically dead, but the body is still functioning, so the organs remain healthy. A match is made when both the donor and the recipient have the same blood type.

Main Point 2- Think About it ?
1. I want you all to imagine watching a loved one .. your grandparents, parent, spouse or significant other, even your own child, dying because one of their vital organs has quit working. maybe because of a disease or an accident, maybe for a reason that cannot be explained, without any warning and the only chance of this person surviving is through an organ transplant, but there aren't any available.

Clincher- How Would you feel when you have to wait for something you really really want? What if this was something you literally cant live without? How many have you actually thought about it ? its never too late save a life .
